Y'all know I am a wonderful yearly blogger, so I though I would blow your minds with two posts in one day!! This is just something that I would like to share with those who may be interested. I have discovered podcasts!! I know I'm really late to the game, but it is what it is. I actually did share last year about a podcast, Arrows in Our Hands, but I still wasn't fully in to on the whole podcast world yet. Since then I have revisited them and discovered so many more!! My more current phone has made this much easier for me (thanks sis!)
So here's the gist of it. Listening to these podcasts has helped me so much to keep my mind focused on the things that matter... God and family. It's so easy to slip off to mindlessness, worry, or other unhealthy mental places when you are driving or completing daily tasks, so why not replace those thoughts with encouraging, uplifting, meaningful messages. It's impossible to not grow and gain understanding after listening to these. I have been binge listening since I am late to the game, and it's been great. I rarely turn on my car radio anymore. They are a great addition to your personal bible study. So without further ado here is a list of my current favorites that I really hope you will give a try!

About Us
- Megan
- Welcome to our family blog. My name is Megan and I have a wonderful husband, Jonathan, and two littles. This blog originally started to record our adoption journey with our first child. It has continued on through the adoption of our second child, and I don't know what exactly is it to come in the future :) For now though it's a place to share with and hopefully encourage others.

One Year Catch Up
Just for good measure, I want to make the official we were chosen post! Most anyone reading this has already read this on facebook, but I feel like it needs to be recorded here :) Our sweet little girl is 4 months old and we are making the preparations to finalize her adoption in the fall. When I say sweet... I mean SWEET! She is the best baby ever! Seriously, ask anyone that has meet her. She is the calmest, most laid back baby. She is all smiles and really only fusses when she is hungry. She has tolerated her milk well from the beginning and for the record slept through the night twice before she was 2 months old! To all you infant moms reading this, I don't say all this to be bragging but to say there is hope for the future! This was 100% not the case with our first child.
She is beautiful and already in line for several potential arranged marriages.... just kidding. We shouldn't have to worry about that for at least 25 more years. We do ask that you pray for us as we continue towards finalization. As always we are forever grateful to those who have helped us physically, mentally, spiritually, and financially to get to this point!!

Family Bible Time
While there is not a lot going on in the adoption arena, I still have some things I want to share with those who may be interested. The thing I want to put in the spot light today is Family Bible Time. It is simply making the effort to have a dedicated time every night to study the bible as a whole family. This particular time is focused on sharing God's word with your kids in many different fun ways. I'll be the first to admit ours didn't start out as the most exciting time. It mostly consisted of us reading a children's bible together, and my little one soon begin throwing a fit when we would mention bible time because he knew bed time immediately followed it. Not exactly the attitude I was aiming for... On the other hand I didn't have a lot of free time to plan all the activities and art projects I came across on pinterest (although I would have loved to) and soon became a little overwhelmed. But then.... I went to a seminar that Cindy Colley spoke at (who by the way is the person who introduced me to the idea of family bible time) and she told stories of her grandson and how they act out the bible stories and that he loves being Daniel in the lion's den and the lame man at the gate Beautiful. It seems obvious to me now that this is the best way to go when your children are toddlers but in the beginning I didn't know where to start. So we got back home and tried our "story time" that way and he loved it! Days later he could still recall that he (while playing Daniel) was telling those lions (played mostly by Daddy) to "Stop, you can't hurt me. God will protect me". Everyone got a turn being Daniel, the lion, and King Darius. It was a hit and he hasn't dreaded it since. We still pull out the children's bible to supplement the story or show him some pictures but it's a total different experience. You can make the stories into games, contests, or songs. The options are endless and we're still discovering ways to incorporate into bible time.
We are not by any means experts in this area but just learning about and developing the habit ourselves. I wish we could say we do this every night, but I'll be the first to admit that time, energy, and creativity sometimes run out before we are able to get it done. However, we do make the effort regularly and daily is our end goal. We all have grown to love this time together and I know it's making a difference in all our lives.
I share all this to try to encourage other young parents to start having a bible time with their kiddos. No matter what they grow up to be in life, being a Christian is the most important. The world is changing so much, and we have to equip our little ones to have faith and know God to be able to get through it. It's the most important job we will ever have. So no matter how old they are get your kids involved in bible time. You can adapt how you present the information to any age. I hope you will be encouraged to give it a shot. I have attached some links to some wonderful resources to help you get started. I hope they help and don't let yourself get overwhelmed. You'll be so glad you started this!!

Due for an update
I am a really great yearly blogger don't ya think? :) I just got to thinking I should probably update everyone, and when I signed in my last post was March of 2016! Guess I probably shouldn't make a career out of this!
This update isn't because there is a lot to tell but because lots of people have been wanting to know if anything is going on with our adoption. Unfortunately, the answer is no. At least nothing is going on that we know about. We know our agency has been working with several birth mothers since we were first approved in July 2015, but we either haven't matched criteria with them or they chose other couples. Which is why there hasn't been many posts in the last year. I guess the good part is it passes a lot faster when you have a toddler around. So like I said, there's not much to share but I just wanted to let everyone know we are still waiting and still want your prayers. So please remember us as our journey still continues.
On a side note: I did sort of get a kick out of the fact that in the last post we were starting potty training and guess what?..... we still are, lol. We have made a lot of progress though.

Time Marches On
March is quickly passing and before long 1/2 of the year will have gone by!! I never thought time could pass so fast, yet it seems like each year gets shorter than the last! I can't believe we have an energetic, always happy 2 year old :) He is so busy and learning so much right now. His current obsession is trains....Thomas, train table, and real life trains. Boys really are so much fun :) Our next big endeavor is potty training... As weird as it sounds it's kind of bittersweet. It's like the last thing that makes him still sort of a baby instead of a boy :( Plus I kinda was hoping for 2 in diapers....I know I'm such a weirdo, right? But hey I want to be the minivan mom too, so I never claimed to have mainstream thinking.
As far as the second adoption goes, we have no news other than everything is still the same. We are still waiting to be selected by a birth mother. We have been approved and waiting for 8 months now. I know God has the right child and right time selected though. (We could be paper pregnant right now!) We just have to be patient. In a few more months, we will start having to update forms, paperwork, and our home study...ugh :( Which means we will all be going back to the doctor, vet, and insurance company for updates......UGH! I guess I shouldn't moan and groan though because it won't change anything. The process is what it is, and I do love our agencies!!
I can't believe what I'm about to say, but I have been thinking about having more yard sales this spring. That's still up in air right now, although I may or may not have started a pile in my garage already. Just keep that in mind before you haul everything off to goodwill :)

How different it is the second time around
So I think it's safe to say I am not a very good blogger :) But really there's not been a lot to report. We are still waiting to be selected by a birth mother and just as excited as ever. It is so different the second time around though! Last time I knew the exact date we got approved and precisely how long we had been waiting. This time I honestly couldn't remember for sure what month it was! When I saw my approval post was almost 3 months ago I was a little shocked :) That was about how long it was when we got the call about our little man joining our family. I have so much more faith this time around though, because I have seen just how great God is and realize that I need to just let Him be in control. He chose the absolute perfect child and birth family for us!! I can't imagine my life without him, and honestly he has made me a much better person. I guess that is part of it too. I'm not counting the days till a new baby arrives because we are enjoying every moment with him. He is growing so fast and amazing me every day! However, I would be lying if I said we didn't miss the days of holding a tiny baby in our arms :) That time will be here before we know it though. Thanks again to all those who have helped us get to this point and that are continuing to pray for us!!

We've got the stamp of APPROVAL!!
This week we got what we have been working towards for the past couple months. We got our approval from our placement agency. So we are officially being shown to potential birth mothers and could be selected any time from here on out. I have already been thinking about how we are gonna decorate the bedrooms and rearrange to hold a family of four. Another thing on the list is baby names. It's a whole lot of pressure to pick out your child's name in just two weeks, so this time we will be thinking about that directly. Our yard sales are over but some wonderful friends are having one for us this weekend. If that doesn't say true friends I don't know what does :) We love you Wilkerson's!! Our little man is getting big so fast and I just know he will be the sweetest big brother, and definitely good entertainment! It's been a great week and we're glad to share it all with you. Please keep praying for our family!

The time is here!
Well the time has finally come. The BIG yard sale is this week! Thursday, Friday, & Saturday we are going to brave the heat and try our best to close the gap on our adoption expenses. Once again we have a LOT of stuff. We hope to have several tents set up to help our shoppers be a little more comfortable while they are treasure hunting. This time it will be at our house to make things a little easier for the little one. So everyone pray for the rain that was forecast to pass us by and for hoarders! We will have lots of things for under $2.00 and be highly motivated to negotiate! We really want our garage back :) If all goes as we hope this will be our last yard sale for this adoption fundraising (& maybe ever). This isn't because we will meet our goal but because we want to be sane when we meet our new addition. So if you get the chance come on down and send all your friends too!
As far as the adoption process goes, we are moving right along! We have finished our home study and it has been sent to our placement agency. YAY!! And our paperwork is done, YAY!! All I have to do is make some copies and mail some checks and we will be ready for approval. YAY!! Which means we will be able to be shown to birth mothers and possibly selected!! It is all moving along pretty well. As always keep us in your prayers :)

Nearing a Milestone
I have not been very good at updating you on our progress, but we have been pretty busy. As I said before, we have had a hundred eight yard sales, and we are planning to have one more HUGE one. I think the date for that will be June 26th & 27th, but that is tentative. Even though I say that's the last one it will probably depend on how much we make and how much stuff we have left over. On a more enjoyable note, we should have all our paperwork in and our home study done by the end of next week!!! YAAAAYYY!! Talk about major accomplishment :) Although it was much easier the second time it's still really time consuming, and a little aggravating. For example, do ya'll know anyone who when they got pregnant had to take their pets to the vet and have a $50 exam so you could get a note saying it's ok to give you a child and your pet is up to date on vaccines and not a threat to a child? But anyways, that's a whole other story:) I'm really just glad I've already done most all of it! So what this all means is starting sometime in July we will be approved and eligible to be selected by a birth mother! Just think we could be possible be parents to two children by Christmas! They did say it takes longer usually the second time around though, so we will just have to wait and see. After all, we do want this to happen all in God time. Our little boy is now walking so my life got a lot easier and a little more difficult too:) I guess I just can't handle not being insanely busy because I just took on another endeavor. I have started to work for a home based wellness company:) My main reason for doing this is because our little boy has eczema and possibly asthma and is just super sensitive to a lot of things. I have been using this company's body wash and shampoo on him and it has been the only thing that hasn't bothered him (probably cause it doesn't have formaldehyde and who knows what else in it). So we are about to convert the whole house to these products and get rid of all the unnecessary chemicals. I am very excited about it and if anyone else has these similar issues I'd love to try to help you figure out if this would help you too. I know how frustrating it is trying to determine what will help or worsen their eczema! So anyways, that's the latest news around here :) Please keep praying for our family and that we will receive our next child according to God's great plan. Have a blessed day!

Yard Sale Mania
We are getting there slowly but surely. We have had 8 yard sales so far (although it feels like 20). A lot of stuff has passed through our garage and yard in the past month! Thank you again to all of those who have donated to our sale. We do have one more item I wanted to tell ya'll about. It is a brand new king size bed frame. It originally costs around $900 and we are selling it for $400. It is from the Wilshire collection by Lifestyle Solutions. It has three minor "dings" from being shipped, but they would not be that noticeable once it was set up (and one could be easily repaired). Check out the LINK to get a better idea about it. Hope to post more on how we are moving through the process soon :)

Time to Study and Sell
This is a busy week for us. We are going to have our yard sale Thursday, Friday, & Saturday! This is the first time we have done 3 days in a row. Wish us luck! And pray for no rain. We would really like to sell about 70% of what we have, so come on by we might make you a great deal :) Also, this week we are having our first home study visit. I had forgotten how crazy this all gets when you are trying to do paperwork, home study, and fund raise at the same time :) But it's exciting too and for some reason I do kinda like organizing it all :) Thank you to all my sister's church family (esp you Fancy's mom:) who donated so many items to us!! You all have been great. Well just wanted to catch you all up on the progress. We're moving on towards application completion! And don't forget to check out the previous post on some of the items we have for sale. We are all about moving some stuff so if you are at all interested please leave me a comment :)

The Second Time Around
This time around the paperwork has been so much easier! There is still a fair amount to do, but we probably have 75% of it in to our placement agency. Of course we still have the hard stuff like our autobiographies and our photo album, but we are not starting from scratch this time. This is one time I really love technology :) I got our flash drive in the mail today (which I almost don't need anymore since it's been somewhere in the mail for about 20 days) and it is so cute! Made it feel like a very high tech process. We did have our first fundraiser last weekend. We had a yard sale and sold items from our spring cleaning at home and stuff from each of our parents and a couple good friends (Thank you Brown's & Smith's). It was pretty successful and got the ball rolling. I have been saying it is fine if it takes a while this time around, but after holding a sweet little one week old today and seeing pictures of our little guy as a newborn Jonathan & I are both really looking forward to a tiny baby again. Although I am all for baby Hall #1 to be walking before that happens :) We are hoping to get our application in to our home study agency next week, so who knows we may have a visit in the books two weeks from now! So that's the news for now. Nothing earth shattering, but forward progress all the same. We should be able to pick up yard sale items next week so if you have any goodwill piles give us a call :)

Number 2....?
It's hard to know when is "the right" time to take the leap, but we feel ready to start working towards bringing home our next little bundle of joy. If it happened quickly we feel like we could handle it, at this point (no more bottles and full nights of sleep!). If it takes awhile, for once I actually feel like there is time for that too. But more than ever I feel like it will all happen All In God Time. I could not have picked a better child for our family than the one the Lord blessed us with. So I'm completely letting go and saying Lord, please do it again (when doesn't matter so much).
We just started the paperwork last week, but let me tell ya, the paperwork is so much easier the second time around (plus it helps when you haven't changed jobs or moved). Now that being said we haven't done the super time consuming areas like our autobiographies, photo albums, or home study. I feel much more comfortable this time around. All the great folks that helped us through our first adoption now feel like old friends. I have kept communication open with most of them since our first adoption, so it's not changed that much except I'm emailing them more frequently :)
This time around I think we will focus most of our fundraising on having yard sales. That helped us a lot last time and it does not put anyone under pressure to help. However, we are still so thankful for those of you who did help last time! I have thought before if so many people hadn't of helped us raise the money so fast, we might not have been to the point of matching when G was born! That kinda gives me palpitations. But anyways, back to the topic, if anyone does any spring cleaning or moving and is planning on hauling a load off to goodwill we would be glad to come pick it up for our yard sales. We do ask that you only give us stuff that you do not want back (stuff, containers, etc.) When you collect that muchjunk treasures, it's hard to remember what went back where in those situations. Plus, we will probably do this ongoing through the summer. Our first one will be this weekend!
Well I just wanted to send out the great news :) It's not major news, but it's pretty exciting to us.

My Oh My! How Time Does Fly!
I CANNOT believe how fast the past year has gone by! Our little man had his first birthday in February. However, it does not seem possible that he could be any older than 6 months :) He has grown and changed so much, and we have cheered and swelled with pride at every single milestone he has met. I didn't know I could get so excited about such simple things, but the first times he covered his ears to play peek-a-boo, figured out how to clap, or said biii-ble I'm pretty sure I thought, "my child is a genius". Motherhood is everything I thought it would be. Grocery shopping (or any shopping) is not quite how it used to be, but that's nothing compared to the love and joy he has brought us.
When I think about all the fundraising we did I cannot get over that all that was almost two years ago! It was a lot of work but looking back it really was so much fun. I didn't think I would feel that way at the time because it was so chaotic, but it was so worth it all. I still am amazed at all the support we got from our friends and family. If I ever need to see how blessed I am, I will just look back to that time. So a little over one year later, I want to say THANK YOU again :)

The Moment We've All Been Waiting For !!
Well this post is VERY late, but we have been EXTREMELY busy! It all started in January.... We received a call the of January and were told that we had been selected by a birth mother. Finally, the call we had been waiting for! They presented us with all the information of the birth family and the last thing they told us was...and she's due the end of February! I'm sorry...when? Did you say February!? As in one month from now? We couldn't believe it was finally happening, and so fast! Our minds were racing with all the things we would have to do before HE got here, if we went on to match. We made plans to drive to Texas to meet the birth mother that weekend. One week from the initial phone call we had met and were officially matched! Our son would be arriving in less than one month, and we had a lot to get ready. That week we started painting the nursery and registering for gifts. Shower planning was in full speed, and pinterest was being overwhelmed with pins of baby planning and shower ideas by our friends and family. We were given three showers in a two week period :) It was awesome, but still hard to believe it was happening. Before we knew it the month was gone and we were headed back to Texas to meet our little guy.
We stood in the hallway nervous, scared, and overwhelmed. Then we heard it. The most precious little cry I've ever heard! All we could do is cry and hug as we waited to meet the sweet little guy that had just made our hearts leap. Minutes later that's just what we did. He was so beautiful and tiny and innocent. He was handed to me and all I could do was look at him and think "Is this really happening?" This is something we have waited for years to have, almost six to be exact. We have wanted to be parents for so long and at times wondered if it would ever happen for us. Yet here we were holding this beautiful baby boy ready to be loved and cared for. We were able to watch his first bath, change his diaper, give him a bottle, and take care of him the first night of his life. It was wonderful and we were already in love! We spent the next week doing the same thing in a hotel room in Texas. We got to have our time together as a family of three, but we did miss our family too. On his 1 week old birthday we got the call we had been waiting for. We were told we could go home! We started packing immediately and headed towards Tennessee. Little man did great in the car, and it all seemed real as we headed home together. Once we got home we got to share him with all his grandparents, aunts, and cousins :) We have been getting used to being parents and loving every minute of it. He is the most awesome, beautiful baby that we love to hold, cuddle, and kiss. Our journey has been amazing and God definitely picked this little guy for us. We love him so much and are so happy to have our little family.
We want to thank everyone that helped to get him here! We have talked about the yard sale, pancake breakfast, and everything all of you have done a lot since his arrival. You will never know how much your love and support has done for us and our family.
I want to take this opportunity to help everyone see into the world of adoption a little better. For some reason everyone wants to think the birth mother just doesn't want her baby. So many times I've heard "so does she just not want him or what? I just don't understand how people could give up their child". This may occasionally be the case, but I dare say it rarely is. A birth mother is a person who truly loves her baby. Someone that is willing to choose a very difficult path because she feels it is in the best interest of her baby. She is putting the baby's needs above her own desires. She is willing to put her body through nearly ten months of pregnancy knowing she will not get to raise her baby the way she wants. But she loves him so much that she seeks out adoptive parents that can give him what she wants him to have. This is a hard choice to make and definitely not the choice for someone who doesn't care about her baby. So please be careful with your words or preconceived notions about birth parents:) They are such special people and deserve to be supported for their decision. We have been so blessed because of our birth mothers choice. Our baby is loved by so many!

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!
Well Christmas is here again. This year has had so many ups and downs and gone by so fast! We have been officially "waiting" for a little over two months now, but it really feels more like six! This is definitely harder than filling out paperwork. I have decided to start working on the nursery to help pass the time and be more prepared. I want to have everything moved out that won't be in there when the baby comes and have everything ready to move in as we get it. I have turned out to be a lot more organized and against clutter than I ever thought I would be (and definitely more than my mom ever thought I would be). We have a small pile of diapers and wipes collected but I plan to build it up a lot more each month. Maybe all this "nesting" will get the ball rolling :) I can't even explain how ready we are to have a baby! I am not sure he/she will even need a crib cause they will probably outgrow it before we get tired of holding them!
Just wanted to update everyone and let you know there have not been any changes, we are still waiting. No news. But the way it works we won't hear anything and then it will happen all at once :) So there is still time for a wonderful Christmas present! As always keep praying for us.

We're Approved!!
This is not our picture but it is so appropriate :)
Finally, after months of continual paperwork, home study visits, and fundraisers we are APPROVED! So this means we are now eligible for a birth mother to pick us to adopt her child. We could be waiting for a short period or years, but we are just excited to be to this point. As I mentioned before, there is just something about knowing we could get a phone call at anytime that is really exciting :) So please continue to keep us, our child, and their birth mother in your prayers.

It's ALL In!!!
We finally did it! We have all our paperwork, certifications, autobiographies, photo albums, etc. submitted to our agency!! I mailed the last of it off yesterday :) Our home study has been finished and reviewed by us and sent to our TX agency for review. Once they review it the study will be finalized and sent to them in hard copy. Then our file can be reviewed and approved for adoption. Then..... we will be placed out there as an adoptive couple to be picked by a birth mother! We are so excited to be at this point. It seems like the last few months have been a whirlwind!! We have been so blessed by all our friends and family and we can't help but say thank you all again. Your help has allowed us to go through these stages quickly, because we weren't having to wait on the money.
Even though we can't be picked yet please start praying for us. Obviously we would be happy with fast :) but mostly we want you to pray for the right match for us, the birth mother, and our child. It is so exciting and a little scary to think that we could be picked in the near future:) I know we could have to wait awhile too, but there is just no way to know. Jonathan has said for a long time I'm the queen of "this could be the last time we ever...." but I really am thinking it a lot lately (in a good way) and I think he is too.
As a side note, I bought our first diapers and wipes :) They keep forever right? I couldn't resist a good coupon deal. I went to rite aid three days in a row:) But I got three jumbo packs for about $5.60 a piece! It wasn't free like you see on TV but still a good bargain. I am gonna try to pace myself but couponing is a little addicting so we'll see.
Anyways, I just wanted to share the good news, and I hope to be sharing more in the next week or so :)

ALMOST through with the paperwork!!
Well we have now finished our in-home home study visits and only have one more visit to complete our home study completely! We are quickly approaching the end of this approval phase :) We almost have our paperwork done too!!! Yay!!!!!!!! I mean YAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Talk about feeling accomplished. Before long we might actually have time to spend an evening relaxing in front of the TV :) We will be ending our t-shirt fundraiser soon so if anyone wants a shirt you better go ahead and order it. If anyone wants a large of the brown faith, hope, & love shirt I have a friend that ordered an extra one (or two) accidentally that I am sure would be glad to sell it to ya:) Just let me know and I'll get you in touch with her. Also, We really, really need to sell these Titans tickets for Sept 29th! It will be here before we know it and I don't want to hold on to them too long. We do not have any big fundraisers left, and this will probably be the last one. Several people have said they heard we had all our money, but that's not true yet. However, we are getting really close. If anyone still has change jars that they want to return you can give them to Mindy at the bank. Thank you all so much for your support whatever if may be! Please continue to pray for us as we enter the next phase, waiting.
